Legal and administrative action will be taken against those who violate the cement marketing and distribution guidelines
Addis Ababa, July08,2022 (MOTRI) - The construction sector has been challenging the supply and demand of cement due to rising prices and improper distribution. Fertilizer production, increased demand for cement following the growth of the construction sector are reasons for the mismatch between supply and demand.
On the other hand, due to the increase in demand, a small amount of cement produced by brokers, manufacturers and distributors has been challenging the government to regulate inflation and regulate the transaction.
The Ministry of Trade and Regional Co-operation is working hard to solve the problem in a sustainable manner and has developed and implemented guidelines to ensure that the cement produced is delivered to the consumer until the transaction, including cement, is conducted in a proper free market.
Cement Marketing and Distribution Directive No. 908/2014, which came into force on June 25, 2022, allows government construction projects to give priority to cement. This directive covers the functions and responsibilities of Cement Manufacturers, Cement Manufacturers Association, Construction Projects, the Ministry of Trade and Regional Co-operation, and regional and city administrations.
