Fuel marketing reform has achieved results

Addis Ababa 31/01/2023 (MOTRI) The targeted fuel subsidy that was started a year ago is achieving results.

The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration   has reviewed the performance of the targeted fuel subsidy with key stakeholders, which has been implemented for 1 year and 6 months.

The evaluation showed that the reform has achieved significant results in reducing the debt burden on the government due to fuel subsidies and avoiding the waste and illegality observed in fuel distribution.

Although there are pending results recorded in the implementation process, it has been stated that there are still many problems and it is mentioned that there is work to be done in terms of ensuring the benefits of the subsidy to the low-income sections of the society.

In terms of implementing the fuel reform, it has been confirmed by research that there are many problems in fuel stations, logistics supply, targeted fuel subsidy user vehicles and the regulatory system. Completed
